Hi friends! Welcome to "I Heart the Internet" where I tell you all of the fun and exciting things I've found on the internet this week. This one's a little heavy on reading. But you know how to read, right? Don't you? Oh god you don't know how to read? How did you even get here? Oh, you saw a picture of a grown woman wearing a Sleepless in Seattle night shirt and you were intrigued. That makes sense. Most of my readers are just here by accident.
This is important. Have you started thinking about saving for retirement yet? Of course not. You're young and probably going to live forever. But for those of us mere mortals, who also have the burden of paying off student loans and feeding ourselves, retirement isn't high up on our to-do lists. Plus, when the topic does come up it can seem overwhelming and unmanageable. That's why NPR started this facebook group. I've been a member for about a week and I'm already learning so much. I use phrases like "Roth IRA", "portfolios" and "Social Security" in random conversations now.
I know money can be an uncomfortable thing to talk about. But saving for your retirement is important. This facebook group takes a little bit of the edge of, and can help you find resources that will help you better manage your money.
In this month's edition of Vogue, uber relatable actress Jennifer Lawrence confessed that she couldn't get a date. Welcome to the club Jen. But luckily for her, a nice guy asked her out on YouTube and it somehow doesn't come across as creepy. Hell, if my heart wasn't a barren wasteland of despair I'd even consider going on a date with this guy. Good luck sir!
This was fascinating for me to read. It discusses how landscape for releasing content has changed so much in the last few years, it's even effecting formerly untouchable people and companies. I'm very interested to see how this plays out in the future.
