Honey I Poached the Pears!
Sorry, had to get that out of the way. These were fun to make. They look so pretty and elegant, and end up filling your home with a wonderful aroma while you're making them.
I was lucky enough to have my sister come visit me this weekend. I won't be able to make the trip up to Washington to see my family this year for Thanksgiving, so it was perfect timing that she was going to be in LA for the weekend anyway. I like to cook for my sister when she visits, as she's still in college and doesn't get home cooked meals very often. She's also a very busy lady, so it felt good to take care of her for a little bit. As I do every Sunday, I Periscoped while I made these poached pears. My sister got to see what all of the fuss is about and even made a little cameo when she snuck behind me to grab some chips out of the pantry.
This was my first time poaching any kind of fruit, so I used a recipe I found online from Taste of Home. They turned out to be a lovely fall/winter dessert, and I enjoyed them after a nice dinner my sister and I made. Well, I made. But she did a good job of keeping me company.
Puff pastry is a real delight, and this was another first time experience for me. I'm really enjoying updating this blog. I bake every week now, and it's almost alway something new for me to learn about.
Kind of a short post for today, I'm busying gearing up for my massive Thanksgiving pie undertaking. I should have a nice recap of that for you guys on Friday.
I wish this was an original recipe, but I copied it exactly from the Taste of Home Recipe. That's why I won't be reposting it here. However, I do have some pretty pictures for you to look at!
Are you guys ready for Thanksgiving? What are you making? Who will you be sharing your meal with? TELL ME EVERYTHING!
