I'm writing this essay as part of the Week of Writing Prompts, a celebration of my first year of blogging. Click the link to find out more!
Prompt: Write about something that bothers you. It can be something trivial, or something much larger. Can you stop this thing from happening? Why or why not? Why does it bother you?
Here's something that bothers me. I came up with all of these prompts about a week ago, and I thought that this would be the perfect prompt for me to write a really funny essay about dumb pet peeves I have. I even had it all written out.
But it feels wrong for me to post it. It bothers me that I thought it was appropriate to write an essay about how I hate when I burn my tongue on my coffee, or when people chew with their mouth open. Those things are so trivial it's almost embarrassing. I don't really have anything to complain about, especially compared to so many other people in the world right now.
Anyway, instead of reading another dumb essay I've written, consider visiting the Black Lives Matter website. Because something that really bothers me is that there is an entire population of people, living in our country, who do not feel safe, protected, or equal. They have a system that actively works against them and it's irresponsible of us to turn a blind eye to that. They have real things to be bothered about, and we're in a position to help them.
I'll see you guys tomorrow.
