I started Sugar & Satire in July of 2015. I wanted a place where I could share my recipes and the silly essays I wrote but I never imagined it would become such a huge part of my life. I've shared a lot of things with you guys, my journey with sobriety, my fears about dating, and my ongoing struggle with anxiety. It's not always serious stuff though, sometimes I like to share fun things, like the time my sister flew an airplane, my most embarrassing memory, and even that entire essay dedicated to the movie Sleepless in Seattle.
Writing has become so important to me since I started this blog. I write almost every night now, using it as a way to decompress and sort through my feelings. It's so helpful, and it feels so good. Sometimes I share that writing with you guys, and other times I keep it just for myself. Since starting my blog, one of the things I hear most frequently is that my readers (you guys) wish they could use writing as a form of expression the same way that I do.
Now I'm not claiming to be the worlds greatest writer, but putting my thoughts into words is something I feel pretty confident about. I know it's not something that comes naturally to everyone, but I think it's something that everyone should try. Have you ever written something just for fun? Not as part of a homework assignment, or a project for work, but just as something you do for yourself? I'm giving you the perfect opportunity to try it out!
So starting on the week of July 11th, the anniversary of when I published my first post on Sugar & Satire, I'm asking you to join me in a week of writing prompts. This is the first one, so we're still gonna be figuring stuff out, but I think it'll be really awesome. This is a present for me, but it's also a present for you!Read More
